Why a Dota 2 patch wishlist? What the votes are for

Every big Dota 2 patch changes the game for months. Before Valve writes the notes for 7.42, players argue about what should change first: a new hero, a bigger map, shorter games or a fix for the ranked queue. The wishlist turns that argument into numbers. Tap the arrow on every wish you share, and the list sorts itself by votes. The counts are real reader votes, one per wish per browser, and the same numbers appear in the wishlist box on our next patch tracker.

4 of the 12 wishes come from pro players and casters who said what they want in 7.42; the rest are common community wishes we picked. If your wish is missing, send it through the contact form and we add it.

What past Dota 2 patches changed The pattern behind every wish

The last 5 big patches changed between 100 and 126 of the 127 heroes each, about 81 items and roughly 1,150 lines of notes. The latest big patch, 7.41, came out on March 24, 2026 and changed 126 heroes and 125 items in 1,674 lines. Since then Valve shipped 6 letter patches, the latest 7.41f on September 15, 2026.

A new hero is the wish with the best track record: 6 of the last 12 heroes came out on the same day as a big patch, the newest Largo with patch 7.40. Our next hero tracker follows the rumors and the waiting time. Every patch since 7.20 with its wait and what it brought is listed on the next patch tracker.

When is the next Dota 2 patch due? Our estimate, not a date from Valve

Valve announces big patches only days before they drop. Our model looks at the waits between the last 10 big patches (149 days on average) and gives 7.42 a 92% chance for November – December 2026. The tracker shows the day count, the chance per month and every signal, from staging server tests to datamined files.

How the Dota 2 patch wishlist works

  • Every wish is a small ticket. Tap the arrow once per wish; the number in the pill is that wish's share of all votes, the count sits under it.
  • The list sorts itself by votes, so the most wanted change is always on top. The same counters feed the wishlist box on our next patch tracker.
  • All votes are real: one vote per wish per browser, nothing is seeded, nothing is invented. We store only counters, nothing about you.
  • Wishes with a source quote what a named pro player or caster asked for. The rest are common community wishes picked by us.
  • Have a better idea? Send it through the contact form and we add it to the list.
