This Week in Dota 2: Six teams left at BLAST Slam VIII, Arcanas and big transfers

It was a busy week in Dota 2. The big tournament in Malta reached its final stage, Valve released a new treasure, and one team changed almost everything in a single day. Here is what you need to know.

Who is left at BLAST Slam VIII?

Six teams are left at BLAST Slam VIII. PARIVISION and Team Spirit skip the first playoff round, and Team Liquid are already out.

The playoffs in Malta start on Thursday, Oct 8. PARIVISION and Team Spirit won on Oct 3, so they skip the first playoff round. LGD Gaming and 1w Team lost game one, but then won 2-1 and took the last two playoff spots. Famous teams like Team Liquid and NAVI did not make it. Read more in our playoff preview.

Team Spirit then beat Team Yandex 2–1, and you can read that story here. GamerLegion also won 2-0 against Team Liquid, the TI 2024 champions, and knocked them out. We wrote about it in this post.

Skiter, the carry of Aurora Gaming, is our Player of the Week. He had an MVP score of 903 in 9 games, and his team won 5 of them at BLAST SLAM VIII. Satanic of PARIVISION finished one point behind with 902. See the full ranking in our Player of the Week post.

What is new in Dota 2 from Valve?

Valve released the Trove of Terror on 2026-10-07. It has fifteen item sets, two Arcanas and a new look for Roshan.

One Arcana is returning and one is new. The new one is the first Arcana for Tidehunter. Maw of the Megalodon turns him into a giant shark. It only drops from the Trove of Terror, and the chance starts at 1 in 100,000. More details are in our posts about the Trove of Terror and the Tidehunter Arcana.

Which team made the biggest transfers this week?

CyberHero signed four players from Level UP and their coach. WoE, Ainkrad, bb3px, Htrd and coach Sbdush all moved in one day.

Level UP lost four players and a coach in one day. One day later, all five people appeared at CyberHero. Liquipedia lists 9 moves from 2026-09-30 to 2026-10-07. See all moves in our transfers post.
