Dota 2: Valve release the Trove of Terror with two Arcanas and a new Roshan

Valve announced a new treasure chest for Dota 2 on Steam on 2026-10-07. It is called the Trove of Terror, and it is available now. The theme is eldritch horror: monsters from nightmares, told in a creepy story by Valve.

What is in the Trove of Terror?

The Trove has a mind-bending number of Immortal item sets with eldritch and otherworldly designs. It also has two Arcanas and new looks for the Tormentor and for Roshan.

An Arcana is the most special kind of cosmetic item for a hero. Valve says the team's new item sets grew to fifteen. The team was still not happy, so they made Arcanas too.

Which Arcanas come with it?

The first one is a Drow Ranger Arcana that returns. Valve describes it as an old design that was long thought lost. It has two looks: she can look as she once did, or take a new grave-stalking form.

The second one is new: the Maw of the Megalodon Arcana for Tidehunter. It comes with a new model, custom animations, effects, taunts and voice lines. Tidehunter also drags a corpse that looks familiar. Valve says the Arcana has three shark-toothed designs, and you can unlock all of them if you learn its secrets. What do you get for opening more treasures?

The more treasures you open, the more rewards you unlock. Open enough of them and you are guaranteed an all-seeing new Tormentor design. The Tormentor is the neutral monster that guards a reward in the game.

Open a number more and you can get a new design for Roshan, the big neutral boss of the map. Valve calls it a face of eldritch terror. Valve does not say in the announcement how many treasures you need for each reward.

How do you learn more?

Valve ends the story with a warning that the treasure made itself. This is part of the spooky style of the whole announcement. The facts are simple: the Trove of Terror is out now.
