The Team behind Dota2News.com – about us, our vision and plans

Hey Dotaplayer! <3 Yesterday we opened Dota2 News. Today we tell you who we are, how long we have played Dota, why we built this site and what comes next. Grab a drink, this one is personal.

Who is behind Dota2 News?

Dota2 News is made by Kevin and Claudio, two Dota players from Germany, together with our field reporter Windranger.

Windranger

• PlaysWherever the story is
• FromAlways on the move

Windranger is our field reporter and mascot. She is first on the scene, asks around, reacts to every story and sums it up at the end. Her rule: if we cannot back it, it does not go in the story.

Favorite hero

Dota 2 (as herself)

Kevin is from Hamburg and plays mid and offlane. Claudio is from Frankfurt, our carry, and he also loves League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics. Windranger is always first on the scene with her microphone.

How long have we played Dota?

We have played since Warcraft III and the first DotA, so for about 20 years. Kevin started Dota 2 in 2013.

From the first DotA maps to Dota 2, we have seen a lot: new heroes, new maps, crazy patches and many legendary TI moments. Our best rank was Divine, for both of us. Today we are more like Ancient players, but every game still feels like the first one.

Why did we build Dota2 News?

Because the Dota 2 pro scene and its tournaments are super exciting, and we missed a news site that is as visual as ours and gets to the point.

That is why every story here is short, shows the teams, players and heroes, and links its sources. Kevin's favourite players are Zai and Topson. And he loved that The International 2025 came to his home city, Hamburg.

What is our vision?

We want Dota2 News and our partner network to grow. Dota 2 is a game that stays, and we want to be the place you check every day.

Our partner Dota2Freaks has full patch notes, tournament pages and Dota Rankup, which shows where you really rank. Our social channels are not online yet, but they are coming, so you can follow us there too.

What are our plans?

Next we start weekly formats: a pro meta report, a player of the week, a match of the week, the transfers of the week and a look at the meta in normal matchmaking, rank by rank.

Later we plan a player count tracker, monthly looks at legends like N0tail and the biggest prize money movers. All of it is on our list, step by step.
